Authorities also found a prescription bottle of Zolpidem, the generic name for Ambien, on his dresser. Moreover, there was a pint glass of Corona beer, which was less than half full, and an empty bottle of Stella Artois.
Bennington, 41, had reportedly told friends sometime before his death that he had been sober for six months. His widow, Talinda, had also told police that Bennington had been prescribed anti-depressants in the past but had not taken them for more than a year. Bennington hanged himself from a bedroom door at his home in Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles County. He was found with a leather belt around his neck and pronounced dead after being discovered by a housekeeper, TMZ said. No suicide note was found. Bennington died on what would have been late singer Chris Cornell’s 53rd birthday.
